Recovery Thought of the Day
Rescue

As if our lives in recovery weren’t difficult enough before Covid-19.  Today there is a heightened level of communal fear and anxiety. But how comforting to know that when we cry out, God will rescue and protect us.  Our powerful defender will never fail us if we turn to him for shelter and safety.

So, for this morning I’d like you to grab a Bible and read Psalm 91:1-16 slowly and out loud.  Allow the words to sink into your anxious heart and bring stillness. Then click on the attached song, listen and be encouraged.
Lauren Daigle -Rescue

Recovery Thought of the Day
Step 4: We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
"Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord." - Lamentations 3:40 NIV

Over the past week I have been diving back into an old devotional that I bought years ago, written by Tony Dungy (Retired NFL Coach).  The devotional from yesterday really resonated with me as I realized how applicable one of his statements were to the 4th step.

In his devotional, The One year Uncommon Life Daily Challenge, Tony states, "Don't dwell on the past, but don't be afraid to examine it either.  Looking back is often the best way to shine a light on the path ahead."

The 4th step can often be one of the hardest ones for people to take in their recovery journey.  Some people are simply not ready and are to afraid to process the hurts, habits and hang-ups of the past.  Some people simply do not understand the 4th step and view it just as dwelling on the past.  When I first started, I was more of in the afraid boat, but because I had a strong accountability team and thanks to encouragement from my Sponsor, I was able to face the fear and dive in. Processing the hurts, habits and hang-ups of my past was a very hard thing to do, but as I processed it, I realized one re-occurring theme...  The majority of my issues revolved around being emotionally immature and that I was very insecure in myself.  Coming to this realization, I was able to work with God and my sponsor to shine a light on a new path towards healing and spiritual growth.

Which boat are you in?  Are you afraid to reflect on your past or do you just not understand it?  If you have successfully completed a 4th step, who could you reach out to today to encourage them to take this step?

If you would like someone to reach out to you, text us your E-mail and name to 970-645-6109 and we will have someone from within CR reach out to you.

Recovery Thought of the Day - March 29

Good Morning CR Family! For today's thought of the day, please see below for a wonderful prayer that Perry C's Spiritual Advisor Shared.

Prayer for These Times
Holy One, the days of the virus linger on.
For God alone my soul waits in silence.
The news updates roll in like wave after wave,
bringing more stories, more pain, more fear.
For God alone my soul waits in silence.
The ache of separateness from loved ones
is sometimes hard to bear.
For God alone my soul waits in silence.
Cloistered in quietude, may deep speak to deep.
May I make my home within my heart where you meet me.
For God alone my soul waits in silence.
Expand my soul space, deepen my awareness of you
Help me to be still, that you may do an enlivening and healing work in me.
For God alone my soul waits in silence.
That I may emerge from this secluded space deeper, stronger, more whole.
For God alone my soul waits in silence.
My soul waits in you.
Amen.

Recovery Thought of the Day - March 28

Good Morning CR Family!  Please see below for the Recovery Thought of the Day from Perry C. If you missed CR Friday Night Live last night, you can find it at the youtube channel link in the announcements section.

Who Am I Anyway?

Have you ever had the experience of thinking one way and then an event changed everything? For me it was the first time I peered into a friend’s telescope.  I was faced with a different reality.  The universe was so much larger and complex than I had ever imagined. This event changed me.

I wonder if this was what it was like for Peter, James & John when in Mark 9:2-13 they saw Jesus transform right in front of them.  One moment Jesus was just like them and the next Jesus was shining with a brilliant light bathed in the power and love of God. And they heard God say, “This is my beloved son, listen to him”, verse 7. The disciples experienced a different reality and the event changed everything.

When we work through recovery steps 1-12, we too are transformed.  The old self that keeps us chained to the past is dealt with and we discover new ways of being and live into our true identity.  We are so much more than our hurts, hang-ups and habits that humble and challenge us. We actually are chosen, rescued, accepted, secure, loved, gifted, powerful and significant to God, the creator of the universe.

Reach out to a friend, sponsor or accountability partner today and talk about who you believe you are.
If you would like someone to reach out to you, text us your E-mail and name to 970-645-6109 and we will have someone from within CR reach out to you.

Note: The thought of the days along with other key updates will also be posted on our facebook page (Celebrate Recovery at Crossorads Church Loveland).

Recovery Thought of the Day - March 27

Good Morning CR Family!  Please see below for the Recovery Thought of the Day from Perry C. Don't forget to sign up for tonight's, open share groups and tune in for CR Friday Night Live! See info Below...

Which way?

“This is what the Lord says: Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is and walk in it and you will find rest for your souls.”  Jeremiah 6:16

Being a Coloradoan I love to hike.  Have you ever been hiking and all of a sudden you’re not sure which way the trail goes? When this happens to me, I stop and look for clues indicating which way the hikers before me have gone.  Sometimes it’s a worn footpath, sounds of other hikers or cleared foliage.  And when faced with nothing but rock and boulders around me, I look for a cairn (a pile of stones left as a landmark) by predecessors, to guide my way.

For anyone new to recovery there is a community of folks who have walked the path before you by following the 12 steps. Look, listen and follow us.
Step 1. We admit we are powerless on our own to change
Step 2. We came to believe in God and his restorative power
Step 3. We made a decision to stop walking and turn our life and will over to the care of God.

Psalm 16:11 says, “You have made known to me the path of life”.  This path will lead you to freedom and joy.  Come join us.

If you would like someone to reach out to you, text us your E-mail and name to 970-645-6109 and we will have someone from within CR reach out to you.

Recovery Thought of the Day - March 26

Good Morning CR Family!  Please see below for the Recovery Thought of the Day from Perry C. Don't forget to sign up for the this Friday's new, web-based, open share groups and tune in for CR Friday Night Live. See info Below...

The two sides of isolation: the struggle and the gift

In the quietness, solitude and time alone with self, the heart speaks. What is it saying to you? Just be curious, don’t push the feeling or thought away.  It may be an unhealed wound or the deepest desires of your heart.  Listen to what emerges.  Name the feeling, talk to God about it then reach out to a friend, sponsor or accountability partner today and share what you are sensing.

Psalm 51:6, “Surely you (God) desire truth in the inner parts.  You teach me wisdom in the innermost place.”
1 Corinthians 13:6, “Love, rejoices in the truth”.

No permanent transformation happens until we really get in touch with our feelings and our unconscious beliefs, impulses, triggers & motivations. So listen…. your heart is speaking.

If you would like someone to reach out to you, text us your E-mail and name to 970-645-6109 and we will have someone from within CR reach out to you.

Recovery Thought of The Day - March 25

Good Morning CR Family!  Please see below for the Recovery Thought of the Day. Don't forget to sign up for the this Friday's new web-based open share groups and tune in for CR Friday Night Live. See info Below...

Recovery Thought of the Day:

In Step 1, We admit we are powerless (we have tried & tried to change but we can't) over our addictions (a substance, thing or activity that is controlling us) and compulsive behaviors (repetitive actions that are not helping) and our lives are unmanageable (broken, dysfunctional, painful and disturbing).

If you can honestly say this....then there is HOPE!

It is not in perfection that we encounter God but through the gateway of our mistakes and sufferings.  Take courage.

"If we freely admit that we have sinned, God is faithful and just (true to his own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins and cleanse us continually from all our wrongdoing" 1 John 1:9 .

I wonder how have you found this to be true for you today?

Take some time to reach out to an accountability partner, sponsor, friend or family member today to discuss the thought of the day. If you would like someone to reach out to you, text us your E-mail and name to 970-645-6109 and we will have someone from within CR reach out to you.
