Recovery Thought of the Day - April 10th

Good Morning CR Family!

Please see below for the Recovery Thought of the Day from Perry C.  Please check the announcements at the end of this E-mail to see the sign up links for this tonight's Open Share Group Meetings.

God Grant Me the Serenity…

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, like history, my history, Covid-19, the year it is, my age, the weather, other people’s choices and behaviors.  These things I have no control over and therefore can’t change. If I choose not to accept reality (and it is a choice), I will suffer because I will be resisting and fighting against what exists.   I’ll say it again for all of us, if we do not accept reality as it is, we will suffer.

Courage to change the things I can, Why courage? I mean if I learn making a change in my thoughts and behaviors can be life giving then why not just change? Because, there are deep reasons why we do the things we do (and is why many of us in recovery go through a 12-step group more than once).  Look around, we have created our situations in life.  And it is super difficult and sometimes feels impossible to take another path even if it leads to what we desire. For example, my heart has been broken so many times by men that I choose safety, guarding and protecting it from additional wounding over almost everything else.  I live in fear that my heart would not be able to withstand another break, so I protect it.  And the walls I built for protection have also kept out the healthy love and friendships I desire.  That’s why it takes courage, guts, bravery and resolution to change the things we can.  And it also takes the powerful leading of the Spirit of God and the support from friends, accountability partners and sponsors to keep us moving forward in recovery when we are instinctively inclined to pull back from change.

And the wisdom to know the difference...we’ll look at that tomorrow.

For now, name three people who are on your life/recovery team. Please call them today and share something you know you need to change.

If you would like someone to reach out to you, text us your E-mail and name to 970-645-6109 and we will have someone from within CR reach out to you.
