Recovery Thought of the Day
If you would like someone to reach out to you, text us your E-mail and
name to 970-645-6109 and we will have someone from within CR reach out
to you.Power, Love & Self-Control I was 22yrs. old when I became a Christ follower. The pastor of the church I was attending gave me a verse to guide my faith journey. It was 2 Timothy 1:7, “The Spirit that God has given us does not make us timid; instead, his Spirit fills us with power, love and self-control.” Last week Pastor Dennis reminded me of the importance of power, love & self-control working equally and in concert with one another. As I walk the path of recovery, this is what I’m discovering. When the Holy Spirit fills us with power, we have a growing ability to make careful lifegiving choices based on our faith and personal understanding of God. As the Spirit fills us with God’s love we can behave selflessly, compassionately and honoring towards others. As the Holy Spirit gives us self-control. We learn through lots of practice and working the 12 steps to accept responsibility for our behaviors and live our lives accountable to God and others. Lastly with the Spirit of God alive and at work in us we learn not to give in to fear/timidity but to be faithful and strong in the Lord. I continue to work on each area, how about you? Note: The thought of the days along with other key updates will also be posted on our facebook page (Celebrate Recovery at Crossroads Church Facebook Page) and for those without facebook, they will also be posted on the following blog site: https://crossroadscr.blogspot.
